Okay, so I started walking and working my way up to the
month of July and the 100 mile challenge.
Who knew that I’d be able to clock so many miles, because I didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I have faith in myself
but when I decided to join the 100 mile challenge I had some reservations. One being that I’ve not walked that much ever
& that it’s summer and hotter than hot.
To be honest I’m very proud of myself & have accomplished more than
I would have thought I could. With all that said, in 11 days I’ve clocked 44.15
miles. WOOHOO!!!! Tomorrow is July 1st
and the miles roll back to 0 & the real challenge begins. I can’t wait to
see what the end of July has in store for me; I’m extremely happy and excited
that I’ve decided to partake in this challenge.
Pepper has even joined me a couple of days on my journey, granted it
took me longer to complete the miles, but she seemed to enjoy herself also.
Hi there, my name is Shannon and I love all things crafty. My blog will consist of me sharing my ideas, projects, crafts, recipes, pictures, and adventures of being a married woman & a stepmom with my family and friends. Blogging for me is to give me an identity outside of being a wife and stepmom. My two central roles are wife and stepmom, but it is important for me to continue to pursue my passions outside of my primary roles.

24.3 Miles
Happy Monday, the last Monday in the month of June, wow time
is flying. I’m waking up early &
getting moving, which is leading to me accomplishing my short term goals. Knowing that my challenge is just days away,
I’m pushing forward and giving it my best shot.
As of this morning after I walked another five miles, I’ve walked a
total of 24.3 miles in 5 days. To say
the least, that’s amazing even if I have to say so. Right now I’m averaging 19 minutes a mile,
which is okay but I’m a little disappointed in myself. When I say I’m disappointed I only mean in
the sense that I would have thought I’d not take as long to walk a mile. Granted I know that the more I walk, the
faster I’ll get. A longer term goal for me
is to be able to jog the whole time or even work up to being able to run the
distance. Though as of today I know that
is a good ways in the future, but I am aiming for it. I’m super excited to see
what’s to come.

Summer 2012
To keep it short, I have finally put my money where my mouth
is. Maybe I should say I’ve finally
stopped wishing & started working.
It’s one thing to want something so bad and it’s a total different thing
to actually do the work that is required to reach it. I’ve started walking for a purpose, and it’s
to get healthy. In the past three days I’ve walked a total of 14.4 miles, which
is a lot but I can do even more. It’s
been a while since I’ve walked like this but now I’m even more serious and you
know what they say about a woman that has made up her mind. The jump start that I needed was that I am
starting a challenge for the month of July.
That challenge requires me to walk, jog, run, or bike for a total 100
miles from July 1st to the 31st. I wanted to get a head
start of working my way up to being able to walk that many miles, and I have
surprised myself and pushed further than I thought I could walk. Now knowing that I have actually gotten up
off the couch and have walked over 14 miles in three days, I know I can. That in itself gives me motivation and hope
that I can do what I set my mind to. Can’t
wait to see what the rest of this month & July brings. Happy Summer 2012!

Goodbye weekend...Hello Monday
The weekend came and went, and to say it was busy is an understatement. Friday was my Girly Girls last day of school
and awards day. We joined her at school
to watch her receive lots of awards; one of the most impressive was 4 years perfect
attendance. It gives me lots of pride
that not missing a day of school is so important to her, which makes the
mornings easier. The day followed by
riding in the truck with the Hubs for his work, and going around the
world. We ended up at a sports store to
buy my Girly Girl a new bike for her hard work in school this year. Saturday was kind of a bust; well I mowed
grass for a couple of hours and then went to work. The only thing that really made my day was
that I got to see my Mom as she was passing though, which put a huge smile on
my face. Then Sunday followed the same
way, more grass mowed & off to work. Now it’s Monday and I’ve got a day
filled with clothes washing and of course there is more grass to be mowed.
Least I’m healthy enough to get out & use the push mower & enjoy some
sun on my skin. Life is good!

Here's to a new begining...
It’s been a rocky road the last little bit, nothing particular
has happened. Though working weird hours
and having hardly any energy has thrown things off for me. I haven’t been doing any crafts or a whole
lot of cooking. About the only thing
that I have been doing is going to sleep around 3am and sleeping in. During this time I have started reading a
book and it’s a page turner. It’s sad to
know that the only energy that I have had had allowed me to read. One Monday I started walking on the treadmill
again and hoping that will help build some energy and maybe stop me from being
so worn out and lazy. I’m looking
forward to brighter days filled with movement and lots of smiles.
My Girly Girl has been playing softball and only has two
more games left of the season. Thank
goodness I’ve been able to go and enjoy watching her play. I also got the pleasure of taking their
softball pictures, which I am thankful for.
I truly love capturing life through my camera lens. Here are a couple of pictures…hope you enjoy.

Reading...Softball...Date Night...
Reading is something that I truly enjoy, though I do not find as much time to do so. Maybe I should say that I get busy with other things and just don’t pick up a book. Last year about this time, my husband to be bought me one of my favorite gadgets. He got me the Nook Color and let’s just say that I love it so much. I’ve always been one that loves holding a book and knowing that I’ll have it years to come. With that said, I love the Nook Color because it keeps my place and I can even highlight right down to the word of where to start reading again. People will always have something to say, but I am a lover of books and therefore I can either go to a bookstore or just hop online to buy a copy for my Nook. Right now I am reading a physical book and loving it. It’s by one of my favorite authors Nicholas Sparks. If I’m holding my Nook or a book, if I can get lost in a good story line then I’m as happy as a lark.
My Girly Girl has started playing Spring Softball, and so far her team has won both games played. She has a love hate relationship with softball; I just want her to have fun. Due to her Mom making her play, she is on her first team with kid pitch. This is her 4th year playing softball but she doesn’t really care to play, though her Mom thinks she needs to. Her Daddy & I support her but we just want her to be happy and have a good time. Here’s to hoping that she gets better and actually learns to like playing.
Saturday night my husband and I had a date night. That is something that we try to do but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. He surprised me by calling and asking if I wanted to do dinner and a movie. Sometimes the little things mean the most, and make me love him even more. I’m extremely thankful to have him as my husband!

Here's To A New Day...
So here I am…sitting at home alone and wondering where all my energy has gone. It’s been a while since I’ve felt like my chipper spunky self, granted I’ve had fleeting moments but not anything that has stuck around. It’s been something that has been bothering me, but I’ve not known what is wrong and causing my lack of all the time happiness. The only thing that I’ve been able to come up with is that I have not been exercising and eating right. I know that healthy eating does make me feel better but I’ve just been telling myself that once I feel better then I’ll start eating right and working out again. To be honest, I’ve not been able to really feel better and I think it is that I’ve been eating junk and not moving as much as I know makes me feel good. With that said I am turning a new leaf and I’m going to start moving more and eating better. Plus I’m working and don’t want to spend all day in bed just to get up and go to work, I want active days filled with smiles and feeling good. Here’s to me starting fresh and going to make a big difference!
