Happy Labor Day & National Empty Chair Day

Here it is, September 3^rd and the end of Summer.  I can’t begin to say how much I love the next few months. It’s this time of the year that makes me truly happy, it means we are closer to cool crisp weather and the holidays.  It’s been a pretty great Summer in our house. We went on an amazing vacation, and I got a new job, not to mention the day to day great things that happened.  So here I am, saying farewell to Summer and Looking forward for the fall to begin.  Here’s a little something to celebrate the day.

Mrs. Shannon...

Tomorrow starts a whole new chapter in my life; I am starting a new job.  One that I’ve always been super interested in doing, but didn’t know how to go about making it come about.  I’ll be known as Mrs. Shannon and I’ll have some kindergartener’s looking up at me.  Tomorrow I start as a teacher’s assistant at The Goddard School, it’s going to be an amazing journey.  I’ll be blogging about my adventures into the world of Kindergarten and just how awesome it can be.  I’ve got high hopes, but also know there will be some lows along the way.  Being as crafty as I am, I can’t wait to share that with little souls that I know I’m going to get attached to.

This past Friday evening, I had the time and pleasure to take my Girly Girl out and do a photo shoot.  She was a joy to shoot and I got a lot of awesome pictures of her…here are a few!

Dear Sister…Happy 28

Today is my baby sister’s birthday; she has grown into a smart woman with a huge heart. It makes me happy and proud to know that she has come a long way from being a little girl.  I’ve got so many near and dear memories that I’ve shared with her throughout the years.   I’ll give a few examples…

·         “I’ll strip for publicity…what is publicity?”

·         Getting her hair cut off at a strip mall when she turned 15

·         Me flipping on the JCPenny sidewalk

·         113 down 75N chasing a green convertible with hot guys in it

·         Her graduating from cooking school

·         Taking the exit ramp to pass a car

·         A jeep ride home…freezing with no doors or windows

·         Seeing Becky sliding into home on our cruise in a leopard dress

·         Laughing so hard that milk comes out of her nose

Those are just a few fun times that we’ve had together…there are lots more and I’m looking forward to many more to come.  Here’s to you Amy and I hope 28 treats you well.  Love ya!

Shark Week 2012

Tonight it has began, Shark week 2012.  I always look forward to watching it; this year makes the 25^th year that it’s been on television.  It is truly amazing how there are people out there in the middle of the ocean capturing moments that the rest of us can only dream about.  The power that sharks have is incredible and how smart they are makes my brain run over time.  God’s creatures are something else, and I’m thankful that people are out there researching so that I can learn about them.

Saying goodbye to July

My challenge has been completed and reached! The challenge of walking/biking 100 miles for the month of July has come and gone.  I am proud to report that I crushed the goal and covered 108.09 miles.  I’m beyond excited and so happy that I stuck with it and didn’t disappoint myself by quitting.  Not only did I do lots of sweating and walked more than I thought I would be able to, but I can tell a difference in my body.  I can’t wait to see what August has in store for me, since I’m doing the challenge again.  Tomorrow my 108.09 miles rolls back to 0 and it all starts over.

Life is good, the Hubs support and love me, and my Girly Girl is just the added bonus I needed in my life.  I’ve been working a lot more, and still counting down the miles. A couple of exciting things is going on right now, my niece Alivia will be born next Thursday, July 26 and I’m looking forward to our vacation that starts on August 2^nd and I just can’t wait for either of those.  As of today, I’ve covered 61.26 miles and still have 38.74 more to cover.  I’ve got faith in myself and I know I can reach my goal of walking 100 miles in the month of July.  Walk it out!
