My challenge has been completed and reached! The challenge
of walking/biking 100 miles for the month of July has come and gone. I am proud to report that I crushed the goal
and covered 108.09 miles. I’m beyond excited
and so happy that I stuck with it and didn’t disappoint myself by quitting. Not only did I do lots of sweating and walked
more than I thought I would be able to, but I can tell a difference in my body. I can’t wait to see what August has in store
for me, since I’m doing the challenge again.
Tomorrow my 108.09 miles rolls back to 0 and it all starts over.
Hi there, my name is Shannon and I love all things crafty. My blog will consist of me sharing my ideas, projects, crafts, recipes, pictures, and adventures of being a married woman & a stepmom with my family and friends. Blogging for me is to give me an identity outside of being a wife and stepmom. My two central roles are wife and stepmom, but it is important for me to continue to pursue my passions outside of my primary roles.

38.74 more...
Life is good, the Hubs support and love me, and my Girly
Girl is just the added bonus I needed in my life. I’ve been working a lot more, and still
counting down the miles. A couple of exciting things is going on right now, my niece
Alivia will be born next Thursday, July 26 and I’m looking forward to our
vacation that starts on August 2nd and I just can’t wait for either
of those. As of today, I’ve covered
61.26 miles and still have 38.74 more to cover.
I’ve got faith in myself and I know I can reach my goal of walking 100
miles in the month of July. Walk it out!

Day 7 & 25.34 Miles
The first 7 days of my 100 mile month has been pretty good…I’ve
walked 25.34 miles…woohoo…go me!! Today my Hubs got me a new pair of walking/running
shoes, which I walked a mile in a half in.
They seem to be pretty good, but I’ll have to wait and really try them
out tomorrow. I am on track to complete
the 100 miles and I am more than excited.

A bunch of numbers
Today is the third day into my 100 mile challenge for the
month of July. Since I started working
my way up to the challenge later in June, I can already tell a difference in my
body. I have had that good feeling for
about 2 days now that I’ve been losing inches, which to me is way better than
what the scale says. Though I have a
long journey ahead of me and I know that both inches and weight loss will go
hand in hand. About 3 weeks ago I
finally broke down and went shopping for some new shorts, and shopping has
never been something that I really cared for.
Since I seem to get frustrated because I can’t find anything cute in my
size, I may be plus size but I don’t want to dress like a grandma. The day I went shopping I had the pleasure of
taking my sister along for the adventure, let’s just say that after getting
caught in a rain storm and shopping for 8 hours, I brought home three new pairs
of shorts, and three new shirts. I look
forward to the day that I can just walk in a store and try on a normal size
piece of clothing instead of having to have super big tops and bottoms. Anyway, with all that said, my new shorts are
now hanging off of me. I know this is a
good thing, since I’ve been walking my butt off, but it is also frustrating. Don’t get me wrong, I am super proud of
myself and have walked several miles since I’ve started walking, but now I feel
slouchy in my new clothes. You know you’ve
lost inches when you go from washing your clothes in cold water, to washing
them in hot water and crossing your fingers that they will shrink. I know there will be many days ahead when I
put on something and it will be too big, but I also want to look good
throughout this challenge. This new
chapter in my life is starting off really good and I have high hopes for what
is to come. I weighed myself today and
have lost 6.4 pounds, which I am over the moon excited about. This being the third day of July, I have
already covered 12.03 miles & can’t wait to add more. I’m loving life!
Here is a picture of me that was taken in May...notice how full my face is & that I'm trying to hide behind the clown.
I can't wait for the day that I truly feel comfortable being in a picture...with me being a photographer...I'm used to always capturing everyone else & not myself...it's going to be a long but happy journey...I can do this!

Goodbye June…wow…44.15 miles
Okay, so I started walking and working my way up to the
month of July and the 100 mile challenge.
Who knew that I’d be able to clock so many miles, because I didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I have faith in myself
but when I decided to join the 100 mile challenge I had some reservations. One being that I’ve not walked that much ever
& that it’s summer and hotter than hot.
To be honest I’m very proud of myself & have accomplished more than
I would have thought I could. With all that said, in 11 days I’ve clocked 44.15
miles. WOOHOO!!!! Tomorrow is July 1st
and the miles roll back to 0 & the real challenge begins. I can’t wait to
see what the end of July has in store for me; I’m extremely happy and excited
that I’ve decided to partake in this challenge.
Pepper has even joined me a couple of days on my journey, granted it
took me longer to complete the miles, but she seemed to enjoy herself also.

24.3 Miles
Happy Monday, the last Monday in the month of June, wow time
is flying. I’m waking up early &
getting moving, which is leading to me accomplishing my short term goals. Knowing that my challenge is just days away,
I’m pushing forward and giving it my best shot.
As of this morning after I walked another five miles, I’ve walked a
total of 24.3 miles in 5 days. To say
the least, that’s amazing even if I have to say so. Right now I’m averaging 19 minutes a mile,
which is okay but I’m a little disappointed in myself. When I say I’m disappointed I only mean in
the sense that I would have thought I’d not take as long to walk a mile. Granted I know that the more I walk, the
faster I’ll get. A longer term goal for me
is to be able to jog the whole time or even work up to being able to run the
distance. Though as of today I know that
is a good ways in the future, but I am aiming for it. I’m super excited to see
what’s to come.

Summer 2012
To keep it short, I have finally put my money where my mouth
is. Maybe I should say I’ve finally
stopped wishing & started working.
It’s one thing to want something so bad and it’s a total different thing
to actually do the work that is required to reach it. I’ve started walking for a purpose, and it’s
to get healthy. In the past three days I’ve walked a total of 14.4 miles, which
is a lot but I can do even more. It’s
been a while since I’ve walked like this but now I’m even more serious and you
know what they say about a woman that has made up her mind. The jump start that I needed was that I am
starting a challenge for the month of July.
That challenge requires me to walk, jog, run, or bike for a total 100
miles from July 1st to the 31st. I wanted to get a head
start of working my way up to being able to walk that many miles, and I have
surprised myself and pushed further than I thought I could walk. Now knowing that I have actually gotten up
off the couch and have walked over 14 miles in three days, I know I can. That in itself gives me motivation and hope
that I can do what I set my mind to. Can’t
wait to see what the rest of this month & July brings. Happy Summer 2012!
