Out with the old...here's to looking forward to the new!

This past week we sold our fifth wheel camper that was in much need of repairs.  It was a purchase that was well intended but called for way more work than we could afford more less do ourselves.  We are a family that truly enjoys going camping but also likes things in order which makes camping easier.  Last year we went a couple different times and used a pop up camper.  Granted I’m thankful that we had it to use, but having so many totes with camping supplies and having to pack & unpack was more work than we wanted to do.  After our fifth wheel was sold, we went down to a camper showroom and looked for a new to us camper.  Used was what we were going to look at though after seeing the prices on the used ones, we have decided to go with a new one. Let’s just say we are working on a way of getting it since we will surly use a camper and get our money worth out of it.  Until then, here are some pictures of us camping last year.

MonsterJam

It’s a beautiful day outside, sunny & 40 degrees, though says it feels like 33.  Lately I’ve been super busy doing taxes and have not had a lot of time to do crafts or try new recipes.  This past weekend was a busy one, between date night, a birthday party, and an evening at the GA Dome for MonsterJam.  Here are a couple of awesome shots of the action that I got to see at MonsterJam.

Date Night at The Old Mill Restaurant

On Friday night we had a date night, something that we like to do at least once a month.  It works out sometimes that we can but then because life is so busy sometimes it doesn’t.  Friday’s date night made up for missing last months.  We went down to Acworth GA to The Old Mill Restaurant.  Neither of us had been there before so we wanted to try it.  The restaurant was inside of an old mill.  The Old Mill Restaurant was awarded by the Acworth Downtown Development Authority in 2008 Economic Development Award for Re-Adaptive Use.  The atmosphere was casual but the food was so good.  We over ate but with such good food before us, we couldn’t help ourselves.  Here are a couple of pictures, sorry they are grainy and from our cell phone.

Though neither of us could clear our plates, it was super good! Can't wait to return and try something else.

Western & Atlantic Railroad Tunnel

On December 30th we were lucky enough to visit Historic Western & Atlantic Railroad Tunnel located in Tunnel Hill GA.  The tunnel was amazing and had lots of history, our family loves exploring history and the Civil War.  Records show that construction of the tunnel began in 1848 and spans 1,477 feet.  The tunnel is located through the base of Chetoogeta Mountain, and the first Western & Atlantic train passed through the tunnel on May 9, 1850.  During the Civil War the tunnel was part of numerous historical events, and the last use of the tunnel was in 1928.  In 1992 after more than 70 years of neglect, the town wanted to preserve it.  Therefore after restoration and rehabilitation, the tunnel was opened for the public to explore in 2000, which was its 150th anniversary.  Our tour guide was a woman that was from CA and was reading out of a notebook with history facts; she was very nice and said every time she walks through with people she learns new facts.  Here are a few pictures of us exploring the tunnel.

5 Fat Squares

Since I’ve always been very crafty and love learning and trying new projects, I was lucky enough to get a sewing machine for Christmas.  My Mom surprised me by getting me a sewing machine, which she knew I had wanted for years.  Needless to say I am so very thankful and excited to have gotten one.  With that said, trying new projects has been a little more difficult than I would have thought.  What I mean by that is because the sky’s the limit; I’m trying to figure out what project would be a good starter one.  Recently I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some material, I love the designs and colors.

Now I’m trying to figure out what I want to use them to make.  Maybe a child size blanket, some key chains, pot holders, or cover boxes for office supplies.  Who knows what I’ll end up doing with them, though I know it’ll be something cute.  When I figure it out and use them, I’ll share a post about them.

Organization On A Foggy Day

Today is somewhat of a different type of day.  First off today makes 4 months that David and I have been married, I sure do love that man with all my heart! Besides that I’ve been doing some things around the house, I feel as though it is cluttered way too much.  Granted we are blessed to have so much stuff, but there comes a point that enough is enough.  Then you add poor organization on top of all the stuff, that’s when it starts affecting my mood. With that said, since outside looks like this…

I have been going through some stuff and getting rid of some things.  To me life is a lot happier if I’m not surrounded and buried by material objects.  Last night David bought me a calendar to help me keep more things together and keep track of everyday.  It’s my new favorite thing; it’s pretty awesome if I say so.  I know I’m getting older when a Planner/Calendar makes me excited.

A Covered Bridge & A Photo Shoot

On Saturday I had the pleasure of doing a maternity photo shoot.  Life throws us curve balls and sometimes the choices we make can in turn lead to life altering consequences.  This young girl holds a special place in my heart, but I wish her life the best even though she has a lot of ups and downs to come.  The photo shoot was fun and creative. When I’m looking through my camera lens I always have a wonderful time.  Here are some of the shots that were captured and I love them all.

Western Day & A Square Dance

Today at my Girly Girls school was Western Day which lead to a little square dancing.  The kids were so cute and funny.  She is in the 3rd grade and liking boys is something that she is not interested in.  I know there are plenty of ups and downs to come when it concerns boys, but seeing them cringe because they have to hold hands just makes me giggle.  There were lots of smiles and laughter had by all, even the parents.  Little things like seeing my husband out dancing with his daughter, makes my heart swell which in turn leads to me loving him even more.  I’m a blessed & super happy woman! Here are some pictures of the fun that was had.
These two have my heart!

Here is a face that says it all...(I'm holding arms with a boy)

Haha...she likes to tie her hair in a knot around her neck

They exchanged hats...too funny!

I love this little girl to pieces!

So lucky that I got to have a part in Western Day...it was so much fun & the kids did an awesome job!
